The Hupmobile 527T Sedan was produced by the Hupmobile Company, an American automobile manufacturer based in Detroit, Michigan. The company was founded in 1909 by brothers Robert and Louis Hupp, who had previously worked for Oldsmobile. The Hupmobile 527T Sedan was introduced in 1936 as part of the Hupmobile Aerodynamic series. This series of cars featured a streamlined design that was inspired by the Art Deco movement of the time. The 527T Sedan was one of the most popular models in this series, and it was known for its elegant styling, smooth ride, and excellent performance. The 527T Sedan was originally powered by a six-cylinder engine that was capable of producing up to 92 horsepower. This Hupmobile project now sports an engine from a Ferrari Testarossa. The transmission is unknown but appears to be a Tremec-sourced manual unit. The roof is believed to have been lowered, and the rear doors have been molded shut. The custom project Hupmobile sits on chrome wheels and custom suspension with coil-over shocks. The rear end features independent suspension and inboard disc brakes. The Hupmobile 527T Sedan was built until 1939 when Hupmobile ceased production due to financial difficulties. The company had struggled to compete with larger and more established car manufacturers, and the Great Depression affected sales. Today, the Hupmobile 527T Sedan is a rare and highly sought-after collector's item. Its Art Deco styling and elegant design make it a true classic. With the right amount of work, this project could take new life as an amazing, one-of-a-kind hot rod. This is a non-running project. VIN: T6308 This bank owned vehicle is offered without reserve and selling at Public Auction on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
