Status: Sold

This stunning British Racing Green 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8 represents the pinnacle of the “Big Healey” lineage – offering timeless British design, spirited performance, and exceptional provenance. Finished to an impeccable standard following a comprehensive, body-off restoration, this BJ8 is a true collector-grade example with numbers-matching authenticity verified by a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate. The original 2.9L inline-six engine and 4-speed gearbox with overdrive delivers the kind of smooth, torquey power that made the 3000 famous. Complementing its presentation are 72-spoke Dayton chrome wire wheels, with a matching spare, which add both period-correct flair and performance-ready stability. The previous owner had a professional restoration performed, with an approximate mileage of 18,250 reflected on the odometer. Work performed included “body off” paint, new front brake calipers, clutch, radiator, stainless exhaust system, windshield/new frame, new wiring harness, new carpets, front and rear seat rebuilding, new interior vinyl trim/panels, new fuel tank, chrome replacement, certain body parts/panels, body gaskets and rubber grommets/seals, heat shields/ body insulation, tonneau with storage bag, top, 5 Vredestein 185/70/15 tires, fog and driving lamps, and electric fuel pump.  Copies of the bills for the aforementioned restoration total approximately $70,000. The vehicle has been in storage in the owner’s garage and is only driven monthly to keep properly exercised and battery healthy. Only 93 Octane Ethanol free gasoline is utilized by the present owner. Inside, the luxurious Mk III interior features rich walnut trim, leather seating, and a beautiful dash with classic Smiths instrumentation – blending grand touring comfort with vintage racing charm. The original Owner’s Manual and a new copy are included with the purchase.  A British Motor Industry Heritage Trust “Certified Copy of a Factory Record” is also included, citing the date of build as 10/3-4/1966. Also included are several copies of the Austin Healey Club of America publication “Healey,” and a new “Austin Healey Shop Manual.” With its Heritage Certificate and matching numbers, this 1967 BJ8 is an outstanding example of British motoring excellence—ready for the show field, rally circuit, or open road. Please note Alabama does not maintain a title registry for cars of this vintage. Registration is assignable via the Bill of Sale. Owner has an endorsed Illinois Title Certificate in the vehicle file.
