#73 • 1955 MERCEDES 300SLR RE-CREATION
Part of 5/3/2025 Spring Collector Motor Series Auction (live auction by Henderson Auctions)
Status: No sale
This is a Cordoba-built recreation of the famous Mercedes 300SLR. The 300SLR was driven to victory and speed record by Stirling Moss at the 1955 Mille Miglia. Juan Manuel Fangio finished just behind in third place in a similar 300SLR whose livery this recreation depicts. Cordoba, an Argentine company, spends three years hand-building this recreation. This recreation is special because measurements were taken from an original SLR to ensure its accuracy. The body is extremely accurate and hand-built from alloy. The chassis is a tubular space frame similar to the original. The drivetrain is sourced from an early 2000s Mercedes C-Class and features a Mercedes 272 V6 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. Sourced from the modern C-class is power steering and power brakes with the factory ABS. The exhaust exits in front of the passenger side door, an homage to the original. This example is finished in the classic silver exterior over a blue and plaid interior. Chassis 02221153A Selling in the Henderson Collector Motor Series Auction on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama.
